Lima Limo Presents returns with another exciting evening featuring new artist Loa alongside Ranjana Ghatak
Kicking off the proceedings will be Ranjana Ghatak. Ranjana is a long time friend of Lima Limo Records. She began her learning in the classical and devotional Hindustani vocal traditions from a young age in London, before continuing her study under the guidance of Maestro Pandit Ajoy Chakabarty from 2000 and has explored traditional music in addition to juxtaposing the beauty of sacred vocal music with contemporary instrumentation over the last 14 years.
Her solo album was released in 2020 with Mercury-nominated producer/musicians Liran Donin (double bass) and Jack Ross (guitar) titled - The Butterfly Effect. Her collaborations have included th LPO, RPO, Nitin Sawhney, Jesse Bannister, Jason Singh, James Yorkston and Jon Thorne.
Loa is a collaboration between Rick Leigh and Genevieve Dawson, marking a new beginning in their long musical partnership. Both working and living in South-East London, they crossed paths with producer and pianist Sam Beste (aka The Vernon Spring), and with his guidance Loa slowly emerged. Through regular writing sessions, intimate shows to test new songs and an intentional recording process with Sam, the project has blossomed into something tender, original and soulful. Loa will be sharing their debut release later this year and will be in residence at Servant Jazz Quarters for three shows from February to June.
